Reel Clean

The salt wash. Reel Clean is a low-pH wash that dissolves salt crystals, mineral scale, and hard water deposits on contact — without stripping the ceramic coating, wax, or sealant you've already laid down.

Why Low pH

As saltwater evaporates, it leaves calcium, magnesium, and iron minerals that bond hard to gelcoat, glass, and hardware. A pH-neutral soap can't dissolve them — it just drags them around under the mitt. Reel Clean is acidic enough to break the mineral bond and gentle enough on coatings to leave your protection where you put it.

How to Use

Foam cannon

1. Pre-rinse top to bottom. Knock off loose salt and grit first.
2. Load the cannon lean — 1 oz per 32 oz bottle. It foams heavily; add more only if you need longer dwell.
3. Foam bottom to top, left to right. Lower panels are dirtiest and need the most dwell.
4. Dwell 2–3 minutes. Keep it wet the whole time.
5. Agitate waterline scum, bird strikes, and fish blood with a soft mitt.
6. Rinse thoroughly, top to bottom.
7. Dry right away with a Sandman towel.

Bucket

1. Pre-rinse top to bottom.
2. Mix 2–4 oz per 5-gallon bucket.
3. Two buckets with grit guards — wash and rinse.
4. Wash top to bottom in sections. In direct sun, work smaller sections and move faster.
5. Don't let it dry on the surface — rinse each section as you go.
6. Final rinse top to bottom and dry with a Sandman towel.

Wear gloves and eye protection when mixing or loading the cannon — it's strong straight from the bottle.

✅ Safe on: ceramic coatings · carnauba and synthetic waxes · paint sealants · marine paint and gelcoat · fiberglass · vinyl seats, decals, and wraps (limit dwell) · isinglass and clear vinyl · glass · stainless steel · chrome · aluminum, including polished and anodized (diluted in a bucket — rinse promptly and don't let it dry or sit in direct sun) · powder-coated trailers · painted outboard cowlings

❌ Do not use on: concentrate left sitting on aluminum — always use it diluted and rinse before it dries · brass and copper (rinse promptly) · raw or unsealed steel · bare cast iron · galvanized metal (rinse promptly) · natural stone · concrete you care about · hot panels — let them cool first · active rust (use Zero Spot) · open electrical components

When in doubt, test in a hidden area first.

Never Mix With

• Bleach or chlorine cleaners — including Cast Off.
• Alkaline soaps and degreasers — Grease Gone, Grease Gone Pro, Sea Lift.
• Ammonia-based cleaners.

Rinse your foam cannon between products — leftover alkaline soap neutralizes Reel Clean and kills the foam.

Pro Tips From the Field

• Wash within 24 hours of your trip. The longer salt sits, the harder the mineral bond.
• Don't skip the pre-rinse. Dry salt crystals turn into sandpaper under a wash mitt.
• Bottom-up for foam. Dwell builds on the dirtiest lower panels first.
• Sun? Go smaller and faster. Wash and rinse smaller sections so it never dries on the surface.
• Doubles as a water spot remover. Light dwell on glass, chrome, and stainless dissolves calcium spots a regular wash leaves behind.
• Trailers last. Foam the hubs and bunks while you wash the hull, then rinse — salt there is the #1 cause of trailer rust.
